Mit GIMP 2.7.5 ist nun der letzte Schritt vor dem lang erwarteten GIMP 2.8-Release gemacht worden.

Diese Version wird die letzte in der GIMP 2.7-Serie sein und kann als eine Art Beta-Version von GIMP 2.8 gesehen werden. Sie hat exakt dieselben Features und dieselbe Funktionalität wie sie auch GIMP 2.8 “in Kürze” (d.h. wahrscheinlich noch Ende März!) haben wird. Es gibt kein echten Bugs mehr, die es zu beheben gilt (hauptsächlich Michael Natterer hat ihnen in den letzten Wochen ordentlich den Garaus gemacht), außerdem sind die Release Notes für GIMP 2.8 fast fertig geschrieben. Nach 2.7.5 müssen also nur noch die Release Notes, der Splash Screen und einige Web Updates gemacht werden.

Liebe GIMP-User, ihr habt lange gewartet, wart sehr geduldig, aber jetzt steht GIMP 2.8 wirklich ziemlich unmittelbar bevor. Wohoohoooo ;)

• Add axis labels to the dynamics curves to make them more obvious
• Fix dockable showing to do the right thing in both MWM and SWM

• Restore autoshrink functionality in the rectangle tools
• Allow smudge to work with dynamic brushes
