Wann kommt GIMP 2.8? - Die Arbeit an GIMP 2.8 geht zwar unaufhörlich weiter, dennoch gibt es eine große Ungewissheit wann denn nun die neue Version endlich erscheinen soll. Erreicht uns GIMP 2.8 noch 2010?

Ubuntu 10.04: GIMP wird jetzt eine "Profi-Anwendung" - Die Ubuntu-Entwickler planen die vorinstallierten Programme für die neue Version 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) anzupassen. Im Zuge dessen wird GIMP ab dann wie andere Profi-Open-Source-Programme der selben Art installierbar, aber nicht mehr in der Standardinstallation enthalten sein.
